Dr. YasenikDr. Lorri Yasenik is the co-director/co-owner of Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute, an international training institute for the study and treatment of children. She is the recent past co-owner of Rocky Mountain Psychological services where she was Clinical Director for over 10 years. Lorri has dedicated her professional life to working with children families and individuals. She has over 25 years experience in the clinical field of practice. She is a Registered Clinical Social Work Supervisor, Certified and Registered Child Psychotherapy and Play Therapy Supervisor, Registered Family Mediator, and a Registered Parenting Coordinator-Arbitrator. Lorri is the Past President of the Alberta Family Mediation Society and the 2010 recipient of the Dr. John Haynes Memorial Award for outstanding contributions to family mediation in Alberta. Lorri served as a member of the Clinical Committee, a Regulatory Standing Committee for the Alberta College of Alberta for two terms.

Lorri provides assessment and treatment services to children, couples and adult individuals. Lorri has expertise in working with high conflict separation and divorce situations. She has taught for the Conflict Resolution Program at Mount Royal University and taught the Parenting After Separation Course from 1997-2007. Lorri completed her Doctoral Dissertation on the topic of “ Including the Voices of Children of Separation and Divorce in the Legal System”.

Lorri has authored many chapters and books related to child and play therapy.

Lorri also works in collaboration with Jon Graham from Sydney, Australia. They began investigating the use of new models that could increase the opportunity for meaningful participation of children in Family Law Processes.  Lorri and Jon note that the goal of the Child Centred Continuum Model is to increase the readiness of parents to hear, and genuinely engage with, their child's voice. On a personal note, Lorri is interested in hiking, cycling and skiing and lives half time in the mountains. She has also dedicated the past seven years to volunteering her time to raising money for a small Cambodian community. She travels to Cambodia and volunteers her time to work with the children in the village. Due to fundraising efforts, a new school has recently been built!
